What kind of polish is that?

THE NAIL POLISH DICTIONARY

Cream/Creme: this is usually a solid color that does not contain any shimmer, glitter, or anything similar. Most are opaque in  1-2 coats but there are colors such as mint, peach, yellow and pastel colors that may require a third coat.

Jelly: This is usually a polish that is pretty sheer and requires at least 3 coats to be opaque. Some jelly polishes might contain holographic glitter or fine milled glitter. The finish on this is very shiny to the point where it can look squishy. This is often used for a jelly sandwich manicure which consists of one layer of the jelly polish, one layer of a glitter polish and a second layer of the jelly polish to top it off.

Crelly: This is a mix between a jelly and cream polish. The opacity of these types of polishes are usually three coats. Most independent nail polish brands use this type of polishes mixed with a glitter. Some solid color polishes can also have a crelly formula.

Shimmer: This is a polish with very fine sparkle mixed in.

Duo-chrome/Multi-chrome: These types of polishes reflect different colors depending on the angle of your nail.

Holographic: Tiny particles that reflect rainbow colors.

Linear holographic: This is a holographic polish that looks like a rainbow arc on the nails. It's usually best seen in direct sunlight.

Scatter Holographic: A holographic polish that is dispersed all over the nail like glitter. It's very fine.

Frosty: A pearl like shimmer finish polish that is prone to show brush strokes. You will need to make sure you apply the coats as straight as possible.

Texture: A polish that does not dry smooth. It kind of feels like sandpaper on your nails. They usually dry matte and need a good amount of top coat to smooth it out.

Neon: These are extremely bright/florescent colors. They may be sheer polishes so they require about 3-4 coats but if you apply a white base first, then you won't need as much coats. These usually chip easily and dry matte so a top coat is needed to a glossy finish.

Reflective flash: These are the new texture craze. It has reflective glitter that shines brighter when a flash (usually from a cell phone) is shone on. It can make the polish look very glittery and different.
